ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
The Annual Convention of Oil Technologists' Association of India will be organized by the Oil Technologists
Association of India, Eastern Zone and Jadavpur University during November 22-23, 2025 on the topic "EMERGING SUSTAINABLE PROCESS TECHNOLOGIES AND PRODUCTS IN FATS, OILS, FOOD AND
ALLIED INDUSTRIES”(ESPT-FOFA 2025). The global drive toward sustainability has significantly reshaped the landscape of the fats, oils, food, and allied industries. With increasing awareness of environmental impact, resource scarcity, and the need for health-conscious consumption, there is a growing emphasis on adopting sustainable process technologies and developing eco-friendly, value-added products.
Emerging technologies are focused on improving efficiency, reducing waste, and lowering the environmental footprint across the entire value chain—from cultivation and extraction to refining, packaging, and distribution.
Innovations in green extraction methods, enzymatic processing, zero-waste manufacturing, biodegradable packaging, and energy-efficient refining are paving the way for a more resilient and sustainable future.
Furthermore, the integration of biotechnology, AI-driven quality monitoring, and circular economy principles is enabling industries to unlock new opportunities in product development—such as functional lipids, plant-based alternatives, nutraceuticals, and oleochemicals with minimized ecological impact.
This transformation is not just technological but systemic—requiring collaboration between Researchers, Scientists, Technologists, Industry leaders, and Policymakers to ensure that these advancements contribute to enhanced oil production, food security, economic empowerment, and environmental stewardship.
As the industry evolves, it is crucial to highlight and share the most promising sustainable innovations that are shaping the future of fats, oils, and food systems, making them safer, smarter, and more sustainable for generations to come.

As per earlier announcement,the last date for receiving the applications for the awards was September 15th 2025. Now CEC in its meeting dt 04th October2025 has extended the date of receiving the applications for awards to 23rd October2025 .Other terms and conditions will remain unchanged. The winner will be informed by OTAI-HQ. The award will be conferred at Inaugural function of Annual Convention of Oil Technologists' Association of India, proposed on 22-23 November 2025 at Kolkata.

The award is open to the researchers from universities & national institutes established by the Government of India and supported by national agencies.
1)PROF. J. G. KANE MEMORIAL AWARD
This award was instituted by J. G. Kane Memorial Trust, Mumbai for an eminent scientist for his out standing contribution in the field. The scientist selected by the OTAI, at the occasion of Annual Convention of OTAI, delivers a lecture named professor J. G. Kane Memorial Lecture. The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 25000/= and a Citation which is jointly financed by J.G. Kane Memorial Trust & OTAI (WZ).
2) Dr. S. HUSAIN ZAHEER MEMORIAL AWARD
This award was instituted by Zaheer Science Foundation of the CSI R in the year 1979, to perpetuate the memory of Dr. S. Husain Zaheer, for excellence in research contribution in Oil Chemistry and Technology, Surface Coatings and allied subjects through research papers which include applicant's name among the authors and which appeared during the previous three calendar years. The award consists of cash prize of Rs. 10,000/= and a Citation & certificate.
3) S. D. THIRUMALA RAO MEMORIAL AWARD
This award has been instituted from the year 2003 in memory of Shri S. D. ThirurnalaRao. This award is given for outstanding contributions (Papers published/Patents taken) during three calendar years preceding the year of award on the relevant subject. The award consists of cash prize of Rs. 10,000/= and a Citation & certificate.
4) DR R.K.KHANNA MEMORIAL AWARD
Annual cash award of Rs 10,000 was instituted with the support of OTAI (CZ) in memory of Prof. R.K.KHANNA. This team award is for the best research paper published in all issues of the Journal of Lipid Science Technology, which appears during previous calendar year. No application is required for this award.
5) Life Time Achievement Awards
Besides these awards, on recommendations of host zone, CEC awards committee announces to felicitate with Life Time Achievement Awards during the inaugural session of annual convention of OTAI.
The applicants shall send a soft copy on hgs email (hgs@otai.org) with hard copies (5 no.) of their synopsis (submitted in the current or previous calendar year), or prints of research papers (published within the last 5 years). These must include the applicant’s name among the authors, along with a covering letter. The last date for receiving the applications for the above award is September 15th 2025. The winner will be informed by OTAI-HQ. The award will be conferred at Inaugural function of Annual Convention of Oil Technologists’ Association of India, the date of the same will be announced shortly.
For this award the applicants can send their hard copy of applications to Hon. General Secretary HQ through courier or speed post to HGS, OTAI, Department of Oil Technology Harcourt Butler Technical University Kanpur- 208002.
